Meraki MDM management (iPads and Windows)

Meraki is our official Device management tool for iPads and Windows computers. Please follow this standard for proper inventory and policy implementation.

All windows machines need the Meraki agent installed. The agent can be downloaded from the web interface and we have downloaded to \\uct-dom3\apps\meraki. The downloaded agent will put the machine directly into a network based on what network is selected when you download.  

    • Networks: (We use 2 distinct versions of Meraki. Both accessible using the same address Meraki.com and separated into networks called "iPads" for iPads and "Windows" for windows inventory only. 

      • iPads = iPads (Paid product and controls policies) *Careful mucking around in this interface

        • Network = IOS (There is only one network for iPads)
        • Tags
          • student (default tag when activating)
            • disableproxy (assign for all policies but proxy for testing)
            • enable camera (all policies but camera on approval)
          • Staff (Remove "student tag")
          • UCTS (no longer required - assigning to all devices)
          • Shelf (In inventory and not assigned)
          • Lender 
        • Ownership
          • All iPads in production need an owner including Lenders (remove owner on return)
          • All iPads on the shelf

      • Windows = Windows Inventory Only

        • Networks

          • Windows-Production (Under 5 years old)

          • Windows-replace (5+ years old)

          • Windows-retired (Disposed)

          • Labs (Desktop labs: 116, Library, CAD)

          • Laptop Carts (Mostly english department)

          • VM = Citrix Virtual machines (planning update and retire)
            • upcoming 12/2016: purchased new machine for dutch

        • Tags

          • YEAR PURCHASED (Determines network 5+/-)

            • Lookup manufacture warranty to find year purchased

            • Move to associated network based on age

          • Location = XXX (3 character location or shop) *optional

          • Teacher = Assigned to a specific staff member - set ownership

          • Audit2016 = Verified Inventory in 2016

          • Maintenance2016 (All machines verified for maintenance, re-image, or brand new mainly used for summer projects)

        • Ownership

          • Owner (All individually assigned or classroom assigned machines need owner assignment)

This is the teacher “Teacher” machine in room “412” also connected to the smart board ‘smart” with maintenance done this year ‘Maintenance2016” and purchased in “2013”
